Hi, may I raid your closet: Holiday Edition

Happy Holidays readers! I hope everyone is having a grand holiday and keeping busy (I know I am! glad to have a mini blog vacation too). I'm excited to post the last edition for the Holiday Inspiration series I've been writing this month with what to wear on New Year's Eve. My personal rule of thumb is something sparkly, specficially sequins. Since sequined items can be difficult to pair and style properly, I thought some inspiration on styling sequins for a holiday party would be helpful.

The first and easiest way to wear sequins is a Sequin Dress. Sequin dresses can be easily styled since you don't have to match a top or bottom. Sequin dresses can be paired with a belt, tights, thigh highs, a cardigan, loose sweater (to create the illusion of a sequin skirt), or structured blazer. The list is endless depending on how much sparkle you want to show off. Sequin Shorts are a new favorite of mine and can be worn in the summer with a loose top or sweater, or transitioned into winter wear with some opaque tights. If you want to really make a statement, a Sequin Maxi Skirt is the way to go! Pairing it with a loose graphic tee or peter-pan collared shirt and you're ready to party. (Imagine how cute a denim jacket would look with a sequined maxi skirt?! swoon!). Sequin mini skirts are also a great alternative to the maxi skirt and are very comfortable with your favorite loose, knit sweater. If your looking for a more casual way to wear sequins for a low-key house party, a Sequin Blazer offers all the fun of sparkle, but you can easily take it off if you need a break from being the star fashionista of the party. What would a New Year's party be without Sequin Pants? If you're daring enough to wear them you better be sure to kill on the dance floor! Pair your top according to the cut of your sequin pants: a looser top if the pants are tight, and a more fitted top if the pants are loose. Also, keep in mind that the sequin pants are doing all the talking, so keep your top simple to not distract or look like you're trying too hard. Finally, I though I'd share the dress which I plan on wearing on New Years which I snagged from Madewell: sequins, colorblocking, and sleeveless. What more could I ask for?! I plan on wearing it with black opaque tights, black booties, my J. Crew infinity cardigan in mansfield blue, and some silver jewelry. I'll post my outfit on Sunday with my outfit roundup.

Hope this helps anyone with last minute New Years Eve outfit woes. Remember: Think Sequins!

Xxxo,
