Brown Hair | Blue Eyes inspiration

Lately I've been pinning a lot of inspiration for hair and makeup on girls with brown hair and blue eyes - like me! This combination is not uncommon, but recessive since brown eyes are more dominant genetically making brown hair, brown eyes the more common physical trait. There is even a study suggesting humans all had brown eyes in the beginning and blue eyes were a mutation. So if you do have this combination considered yourself blessed! Fortunately more and more celebrities with these traits are popping up, making it easier to find looks to recreate. My favorite blue-eyed, brunette celebs for inspiration are Carly Rae Jepsen, Liv Tyler, Alexis Bledel, Alison Brie, and Zooey Deschanel. 

The best ways to show of gorgeous, blue eyes framed with dark brown hair are:

1//  Bangs or center part: both focus the attention to the eyes.

2// Full, well shaped eyebrows: again pull attention to the eyes while creating a dramatic statement. Since the eyebrows stand out so prominently for these ladies because the skin tone tends to be fair, you want to make sure the eyebrows are well shaped and groomed.

3// Pink, peachy blush: simple makeup goes a long way since you want your eyes to be the center of attention. Most brown hair, blue-eyed gals tend to have a fair complexion, so a little rouge really helps to brighten the face. Unless you're already blessed with cute freckles!

4// Red lip: a bold, red lip is a fantastic compliment for these ladies and cooler reds (like reds with pink undertones) tend to compliment this complexion best.

I can't really advise on eye-makeup for blue-eyed, brunettes because I only ever wear simple  cat-eye and mascara. There are all kinds of tutorials on youtube and pinterest if you're looking for inspiration. And there's even this tumblr dedicated to gals with brown hair and blue eyes.

Choosing colors for clothes which also let the blue eyes shine even brighter can go a long way for complimenting these traits. I find my best colors are saturated cobalt & ultramarine blues, heathered & charcoal grey, bright cherry red, baby or ballet pink, and sunshine yellow. I find blue and grey are especially complimentary for blue eyes, so wear these colors close to your face: tops, scarves, and hats.
